Compound Double Pendulum Analysis
In my final project for my dynamics course, I worked on a two person team that modeled the chaotic behavior of a compound double pendulum.
In order to simplify our equations of motion for this project, we taught ourselves LaGrangian mechanics instead of using Newtonian mechanics. We then ran simulations through Matlab's ODE45 solver. We were able to both model the compound double pendulum successfully and examine its chaotic behavior by running the simulation with many initial variables.
