Crocheted Hat Design

In order to raise money for my hike of the Continental Divide Trail, I designed and sold crocheted hats. The hats were partly made of found yarn, gifted from a community center's defunct knitting class. To create a professional feel for the hats, I designed small labels for them, inspired by the old PCT logo, and incorporating the words "PCT M+C", since my friend Cara and I initially planned to hike the PCT, but our plans changed due to a very high snow year in California. Final label work was done on an embroidery machine (see larger label) and as purchased woven labels (see smaller label).

I ended up raising over $4,000 toward our thru hike over the course of a year and a half through my hat sales. Now, after hiking the trail, I continue to sell these hats, mostly consigning them at outdoor stores, and one outdoor store in Chama, NM has started purchasing these hats wholesale to sell to thru hikers.
