SODIUM Improv
Throughout college, I performed as part of my school's long form improv troupe. This troupe was audition-to-enter, and we performed for our school each month as well as in competition.
We performed in a variety of long form styles, including montage, harold, spokane, monoscene, and la ronde. For my "senior show", we even figured out how to do a musical spokane, with the central scene being musical improv while the spoke scenes were spoken. We also rehearsed and performed both short form games and line games, both to break up our longer shows and to make us more well-rounded in competition.
I loved performing improv for many reasons. In addition to being a crazy amount of fun, and the experience of getting closer and closer to group mind being amazing, it also gave me a more confident stage presence no matter the context and made me a better actor.
