In this project, completed in the spring of my first year at Olin, I worked with a team of 5 people to design and fabricate a motor-powered kinetic sculpture based on the Pacific Northwest Native American myth of the Thunderbird.

In this project, one of my teammates and I did most of the SolidWorks CAD design, as well as much of the fabrication and most of the assembly. This project was helpful for giving me and early understanding of the functionality of basic mechanisms, as well as helping me understand the process to go from design to fabrication when prototyping. I was specifically responsible for design and fabrication of the totem pole, which was lifted by a pole attached to a figure moved by a scotch yoke mechanism.
